Tying the Knot
MANDEVILLE, Manchester – The Valentine’s Day treat Tying the Knot was an over two-hour drama-filled production.
Thirteen multi-talented cast members, made up of mainly past and present students of the Northern Caribbean University (NCU), fused acting skills with music, dance and art to tell the “enthralling tale of a love triangle”.
Members of the audience at the Cecil Charlton Hall were held in suspense and kept more engaged after each scene change on stage.
Director Monique Ingram said Tying the Knot, produced by the two-year-old group Awthentik Expressions, was the first of two productions for 2015.
“It went better than expected. We are still contemplating if next year we will have a second part to the play or a new play,” she said.
Poetry performances in line with the theme and the Krome Fusion Band in action helped to cement the message of the play.
Ingram, who is also a postgraduate student in Counselling Psychology at NCU, said that the next production for the group this year will be a visual and performing arts concert in October.
Other events produced by Awthentik Expressions to date include Valentine’s Day plays 50 Shades of Love and 50 Shades of Love Extended.
There is also the short film 8:00 AM about road safety, which earned accolades at the Lignum Vitae Film Festival at the Northern Caribbean University, and there is an upcoming short film called Ribbons about cancer awareness.
