Dane Nelson’s suspension rescinded, fined instead

The Jamaica Racing Commission has replaced the three-day suspension handed by the stewards of the Commission on November 12, 2014 to jockey Dane Nelson with a fine of $15,000 to be paid within 14 days.
The decision to remove the three-day suspension with a fine follows an appeal made by Nelson, which was heard on February 17. Nelson was suspended for causing interference to Play Station while riding Princess Shemika on October 29, 2014 during the third race on the day.
During his appeal, Nelson submitted that there was no intent on his part in relation to the said incident to warrant a suspension of three racedays.
The Commission, after viewing the patrol film of the race, heard evidence from Nelson and a submission from the chairman of the Stewards Panel, Robert Clark, replaced the three-day suspension with a fine.
