Kronus to finally come good
A fairly well put together midweek card is on at Caymanas Park today.
Without a prescribed feature and the three-year-old classic season not far off, the nine-race card is structured to allow expectant three-year-olds to come into focus with a testing run for maidens going 1,700 metres for purse of $715,000.
Slotted into at an approximate post at 2:20 pm with first post at 12:45 pm, the event has provided a number of slow-getting-there individuals to shape up. Among them is the Richard Azan-trained and Elite Bloodstock-owned Kronus.
Not yet to be written off as Classic material, the bay son of Liquidity gets more manageable foes and another chance at what could prove be an ideal distance that should help to iron out any flaws that may take a little more time with which to come to grips. In his last race when Kronus given a better than average chance to win over 1,200 metres proved no match for Waheed Najmah, but given the easier pace at hand should now go on to deliver the goods on a platter with his favourite rider returning to the saddle.
His main danger could be the PJK-owned and Harry Parsard-trained Supernatural to be ridden by his favourite rider Omar Walker.
Ideally suited by breeding to get distances such as this, Supernatural has worked in his preparation for his competitive start. And having stumbled and gone wide on the turn at the quarter bend, trainer Parsard has chosen to replace the tongue tie with the cheek pieces. Whether this move will enhance his performance could prove instructive.
Action Man, owned and trained by Lorenzo Robinson, could also used the race to test his own stamina ability going 1,700 metres. Prince Holder, who has set his sight on doing much better in the saddle than at the back-end of last season, will have the leg up. Original Train, the stablemate of Supernatural, has the potential to also get the distance and could put in a good showing against the top two at the business end on the event.
