Waterhouse Eagles receive support from MP Hylton
Member of Parliament for St Andrew Western, Anthony Hylton recently donated netball clothing and equipment to the Waterhouse Eagles Netball team as they push forward their bid to become champions in the Jamaica Netball Association Open League.
This is the first time that the Waterhouse Eagles have entered a national competition, and to support their endeavours, they have received over $500,000 in sponsorship. The team consists of students and young adults from the Waterhouse community and serves as a source of camaraderie and positive enforcement of team spirit. The team trains three times per week at the newly developed Waterhouse Community Centre.
In commenting on the prospects for the team, Hylton expressed hope that the netball team would garner the same level of support and community spirit of that of the Waterhouse Football Club. He said: “It is my belief that the Waterhouse Eagles Netball team will follow on from the legacy of the Waterhouse Football Club and continue to showcase the positive things that the community is known for such as fashion and music, but chief among which is sports.”
In expressing appreciation for the assistance vice-captain of the netball team, Peta-Gaye Dixon said, “The team is pleased to access this level of support. We have a strong team of netballers that want to make our community proud and we are committed to doing just that.”
