Ganja worth J$8.5m seized at KCT

KINGSTON, Jamaica – A team of officers assigned to the Narcotics Division seized more than 1,000 pounds of ganja at the Kingston Container Terminal (KCT) on Gordon Cay on Sunday.

Reports from the Newport West Police are that about 7:30 am, a routine check of the facility was conducted and the illicit drug found in a container destined for Costa Rica.

The drug, weighing a total of 1,301 pounds (593.35 kilograms), was seized and has an estimated street value of J$8,456,500.

No one was arrested.
