Lamey stars as Santos reign at Masters League awards ceremony
SANTOS Masters won five awards at the Kingston St Andrew Masters League Association Football Awards (KSAMLA) last Thursday at the National Stadium Hospitality Room, Independence Park. Santos Masters defeated Nautica FC 1-0 in the final last November to claim the league title. Former national and Waterhouse striker Kevin Lamey won the golden boot award with 17 goals and also copped the MVP award, while Lyndon Dawes and Wayne Shaw were the coach and manager of the year, respectively. Former champions Constant Spring won three awards — the FA Cup KO title after stopping Harbour View 3-1; they clipped Pelicans 1-0 to win the Champion of Champion trophy, and they also defeated Pelicans to win the mid-season final.
Christian Ambassadors were the most disciplined team, while Harbour View were the most improved team.
Renaldo Francis was the referee of the year; Tevin Thomas was voted the match commissary of the year, while Neville Lyn was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the association and the running of the 2014 competition.
The Santos team gave their prize money to the league’s general secretary Maureen Chin-Miller to assist with her upcoming surgery.
Guest Speaker was the president of the Jamaica Table Tennis Association Godfrey Lothian.
The 2015 AGM will be held next Thursday March 12 at the Insports Boardroom, starting at 7:00 pm.
