Ten gospel finalists chosen
THE top 10 finalists were selected at Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Gospel Song Competition held at the New Testament Church of God on Eastwood Park Road in St Andrew, on Ash Wednesday.
The national finals will be held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in St Andrew, on Sunday, August 2, 2015 .
“We have a diverse mix of sounds for the top ten songs in the Jamaica Gospel Song Competition. The diversity speaks to melodies and moods, from up-tempo — celebratory, reflective, to inspirational ballads. We are excited to have two groups make final ten (one all male and one all-female). The 10 represents a wide cross section of the island, including St Ann, Clarendon and St Elizabeth,” said Stephen Davidson, director of marketing and public relations.
The finalists comprise: Petrena Ariana Whyte (Kingston and St Andrew); Diamara Neil-Walker (St Ann); Jeffrey Medley (St Elizabeth); Yanique Ducasse (Clarendon); Rebecca Bissoon (Clarendon); Minister Treasure (Kingston and St Andrew); Fred Robertson (St Catherine); Unique Harmony (Kingston and St Andrew); Lashawn Wilson (Kingston and St Andrew); and Shepherd Brothers (Clarendon).
The finalists will be involved in other activities leading up to the grand finale, which includes an album production and launch, workshops, a television reality series and a social outreach project. This social outreach initiative will continue and members of the Public are invited to participate by making donations at the JCDC head office and parish office Islandwide.
