JTB chairman says many business opportunities in MoBay
CHAIRMAN of the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), Dennis Morrison, has called on the Montego Bay business community to invest in the development of the city.
According to Morrison, there are a myriad investment opportunities that are “just staring us in the face”.
“There is no excuse and we should not wait for foreign investors to come in and then complain about their presence, which is what we tend to do,” Morrison said.
The JTB chairman was delivering the keynote address at Tuesday’s launch of the MoBay City Run at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort in Montego Bay.
The event, scheduled for May 3, is expected to attract some 4,000 participants, and organisers are aiming to raise over $5 million to assist nearly 200 needy students to access tertiary education.
Morrison, while commending the city’s business leaders, who have extended their support to the event, noted that “once these young people achieve their goal and achieve higher education, they will need to find employment and business opportunities here in the city and surrounding areas”.
