Several jockeys cautioned, fined, suspended by Racing Commission
THE stewards of the regulatory Jamaica Racing Commission are announcing the following disciplinary actions arising from inquiries held at the offices of the Jamaica Racing Commission on Tuesday, March 3.
Jockey Delroy Beharie who rode Edison in the eighth (8th) race on Saturday, November 8, 2014, was cautioned for interference caused to The Guv leaving the 300-metre point. Beharie who rode Edison in the fifth race on Saturday, January 10, 2015 was fined $6,000.00 for intimidation and interference caused to Phineas in the last 150 metres.
Jockey Jevvanne who rode Hogan’s Hero in the sixth race on Thursday, January 1 was suspended for three racedays and fined $10,000.00 for interference caused to El Patron in the final 50 metres. The suspension will take effect on Saturday, March 21.
Jockey Shane Ellis who rode Nothingbutthebest in the seventh race on Saturday, January 17 was fined $6,000 for interference caused to Doolahin in the vicinity of the 300-metre point.
Jockey Marc Griffiths, who rode Touch De Road in the second race on Saturday, January 17, was fined $8,000.00 for interference caused to Lashing Force and Dr Blair approaching the 400-metre point. Griffiths who also rode Zeus in the third race on Saturday, January 17 was fined $8,000.00 for interference caused to Phalaenopsis shortly after the start of the event.
Jockey Aaron Chatrie who rode Bold Aviator in the fifth race on Saturday, January 3 was cautioned for intimidation and interference caused to Miss Juanita leaving the 800-metre point. Chatrie who also rode Tatty’s Bad Gal in the ninth race on Saturday, January 10, was cautioned for causing interference to Carpe Diem, Blame It On Me, and Veronica B shortly after the start, and Herecomestrouble leaving the 600 and approaching the 400-metre points.
Jockey Omar Simpson, who was duly summoned but failed to appear, was suspended until he appears before the stewards.
