Three more teams advance to St Catherine FA semi-finals
SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine — Tru-Juice joined runaway leaders Portmore United in the semi-finals of the St Catherine FA Major League, despite battling to a 1-1 draw with Old Harbour Bay United in the penultimate round of games before the play-offs. With the point, Tru-Juice inched to 23 points, a total that can only be surpassed by third-placed GC Foster FC, who, on 19 points, have a game in hand.
Meanwhile, Newlands suffered a setback in their qualification bid following a 2-0 defeat to title favourites Portmore United. While the victory pushed Portmore (34 points) further away from the chasing pack, it means Newlands (18) only occupy fourth place because of a superior goal difference. Fifth-placed Christian Pen and sixthplaced Royal Lakes also have 18 points, following mixed results.
Royal Lakes outscored Albion 3-2, while Christian Pen drew 1-1 with New Raiders. Former champions Frazsiers Whip (17) also lost ground in the semi-final race, beaten 2-1 at home by out-ofcontention Portsmouth FC (15). Elsewhere, former Premier League side Naggo Head (10) fell deeper into relegation trouble after Dela Vega City (13) edged them 1-0 to improve their chances of avoiding the drop.
In Division One, Dunbeholden and Federal, the only unbeaten sides left in the competition, confirmed their semifinal status with 3-0 and 2-0 victories over McCooks Pen and Flamingo, respectively. Dunbeholden, 27 points, remain at the summit, while Federal, who have played a game less, are second on 24.
Twenty-three points have all but assured third-placed Watson Grove of a spot in the top four, but, with one game left in the prelims, they could still be caught by fifth-placed Bodles (20), who have a much better goal difference. Windsor Lions are fourth on 21 points.
