Humble Lion tackle Woodhall in knockout quarter-final
MAY PEN, Clarendon — The Noel Arscott/Clarendon knockout competition will enter the quarter-final stage today with defending champions Humble Lion set to host Woodhall in the feature contest at the Effortville Community Centre.
Game time is 5:00 pm.
Elsewhere, Treadlight welcome York Town to the Treadlight Community Centre, while Jamalco and Four Paths meet at the Wembley Centre of Excellence in games that are scheduled to get under way at 3:00 pm.
The other match in the round, between Sporting Central Academy and New Bowens, will be played on Wednesday.
While the other two games are expected to be close, Humble Lion should advance to the semi-finals with a routine victory, especially since their opponents are nursing a bruised ego.
Woodhall were roughed up 5-0 by Jamalco in their Major League semi-final on Thursday and, to avoid another embarrassment, will more than likely take an overly cautious mentality into this fixture.
Should Woodhall take this approach, Humble Lion will then be tasked with the responsibility of unlocking a clustered defence. But, even if they do field a second-string side, Donovan Duckie’s team, currently occupying fourth spot in the Red Stripe Premier League, should be strong enough to see off a team from the third-tier.
