Manchester Div One enters semi-final stage today

MANDEVILLE, Manchester — The play-off phase of the Jamalco/Manchester FA Division One competition gets under way today with a semi-final double-header at the Kirkvine Sport Club.

In the curtain-raiser at 2:00 pm, NCU President’s XI oppose Land Settlement on Field B, while Old England and Plowden will lock horns at 3:00 pm in the feature contest on Field A.

Old England advanced to the semis as the best team in the preliminary round, topping Zone Two on 16 points, while boasting the only unbeaten record after six games.

Plowden were second in Zone One on 10 points, but scored three more goals than England, who conceded four less than their opponents.

NCU topped Zone One on 13 points and will meet a Land Settlement side that earned one point less in Zone Two.

In addition to gaining a place in the final, the two semi-final winners will be promoted to next season’s Major League.
