MBU trounce Mountain Villa 5-0
SPOT VALLEY, St James — Kasief Brown scored a hat-trick to lead defending champions Montego Bay United to a 5-0 win over Division One team Mountain Villa at Spot Valley High on Thursday and into the third round of the St James Football Association/Captain’s Bakery and Grill knockout competition.
It was the first assignment for coach Dr Dean Weatherly, who took over from Carlos Garcia after the Spaniard was relieved of his duties earlier in the week.
Montego Bay United, who will leave the island next week for Haiti to take part in the first round of the Caribbean Football Union’s Club Championships, join Heights FC, Seba FC, Seaview FC and Reggae Youths in the next round, along with Montego Bay United Under-21, who got a bye.
Brown gave Montego Bay United a 2-0 lead scoring in the 15th and 20th minutes, and completed the hat-trick in the 68th minute.
An own goal in the 78th minute made it 4-0, while Jermaine Woozencroft made it 5-0 in the 80th minute.
