Ramble’s distress
SEVERAL months after a section of the main road linking Ramble in St Mary to Port Maria was destroyed by heavy rains, the residents say they are still being inconvenienced by the breakaway.
The residents say with no vehicular access on that route anymore they have been forced to pay much more in transportation cost to get to the parish capital, as they now have to travel a longer route.
“This was a much quicker and cheaper route, and now we have to find money we don’t have to travel the longer route to get to Port Maria,” said one resident.
Farmers living closest to the breakaway have also been severely inconvenienced by the inability to have their goods transported from the area.
The Jamaica Observer North East was on hand to see some farmers being forced to inch their way past the breakaway as they transported produce on foot to the parked vehicle.
