Singer finds ‘solution’ with Hard Climb
IN a 20-year career which has seen him record for a number of producers, singer Solution decided to take things into his own hands for his self-titled EP.
The five-track piece was released in late-2013, but Solution is still putting his marketing drive behind it.
He said the latest song being promoted, Hard Climb To The Top, sums up his approach to music.
“I strive to always present quality recordings in the studio that I can replicate in live performances,” he told the Jamaica Observer from his home in Atlanta.
The first song released from Solution was Lose my Soul. Solution said he began work on the project in 2007, preferring to handle production duties along with Laura Mairs on what he calls his most satisfying project.
Born Lenford Mairs, Solution is from Ginger Hill district in Hanover. It is where he was drawn to the sounds of Dennis Brown, Half Pint and Little John.
Moving to Kingston in the early 1990s, he worked as an automotive painter but also launched his recording career.
He kicked things off with Let True Love Hold on We, produced by Dennis Woodbine, and Love Your Brother Man, produced by S L Powell.
