Moby’s… A Departure From Styrofoam
Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards judges for the parish of Clarendon Kurt and Ezmien Chin add romance to their culinary repertoire…
There aren’t many places in May Pen, or Clarendon for that matter, where you may want to take someone you’re courting out to a romantic dinner. So having a place like Moby’s is certainly an asset for May Pen. It’s beautifully decorated with appealing colours, candles, flowers and all the elegant things you would want on your table for an intimate dinner: crisp linen, shiny silverware and fancy china. Definitely a departure from all the styrofoam we’ve been eating from with the plastic fork wrapped in a half of a napkin!
Here you can take a load off, relax and enjoy the ambience. Sit by the pool, have a few drinks and partake in conversation. The food is well-presented and delicious. They serve lunch and dinner daily. Whenever we’re in the mood for a vegetarian meal or a light lunch, our choice is Moby’s. Their Ital Thursdays offer plenty of non-meat dishes you can choose from. There is the ital stew, homemade veggie burger and a variety of natural juices. A great place for the health-conscious, it is also a good option for us meat lovers. They have plenty of healthy grilled options as well as stews and steamed fish. As the name might suggest, they offer a variety of seafood dishes such as lobster, fish, crab and shrimp. Grilled fish with vegetables and grilled potatoes are good when one isn’t in the mood for rice. When in season, their curried lobster is also another good option. The staff is friendly and welcoming with good knowledge of menu selections and daily specials. Moby’s is quite popular for wedding receptions and parties, as the area is beautiful and inviting. Swimming lessons are also offered, so you can bring your kids along and have a relaxing lunch while you wait for them. And if you’re feeling inspired and want to have a unique surprise for your date, you can record a song for her in their recording studio. Now that’s what you call dinner and a show! Dishes are reasonably priced, starting as low as $400.
