Praise on the Beach for Saturday
SEVERAL local gospel acts are slated to perform on Praise on the Beach scheduled for Dump Up Beach in Montego Bay, St James, on Saturday.
The event will be hosted by American Grammy Award-winning gospel singer Dr Bobby Jones.
Gospel artiste Jermaine Edwards is promising a great performance.
“Patrons should expect an energetic package with a new twist on gospel songs. It will be a new experience with new songs,” the 34-year-old told the Jamaica Observer.
Edwards, who released his fifth album — Don’t Count Me Out last November — will also target the “next generation”.
“As Christians, we oftentimes get so much involved in taking care of the older generation with not much focus on the new,” he said.
The singer, who is principal of Island Worship label — said he has been busy in the studio with acts Verlando Small, Rondell Positive and his harmony group Iworshipp.
“Iworshipp has been my backup singers for seven years and they have a great single out titled Keep Me Alive,” he said.
As for his album, Edwards said he has felt the love from a wider cross-section of fans.
“People from as far as Nigeria and France have been reaching out to me with great feedback. I have never experienced that before,” he said.
In addition to Edwards’ acts, Rev Rev Dr Kay Morris, Kierra Sheard, Byron Cage, Kevin Downswell and Rondell Positive are scheduled to perform.
