Barracks Road book quarter-final spot in VMBS U-13
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Former champions Barracks Road Primary qualified for the quarter-finals of the St James Football Association VMBS Under-13 competition after blanking Lottery 7-0 in their Zone D game at the UDC Field on Friday.
Two goals each from Jaheem Scarlett and Ewan McKenzie and one each from Christopher Smith, Rajhani Graham and Akeem Frater took Barracks Road to their third win from four games and on to nine points.
Catherine Hall Primary, who have a game in hand, are second with seven points.
Barracks Road join Howard Cooke Primary and Corinaldi Avenue Primary who have also qualified for the second round as well.
Irwin Primary completed their schedule in Zone B with a 4-0 win over Catadupa Primary to put themselves in a good position to book a place in the next round.
Salimmalike scored twice, while Marvin Evans and Kavarn Wilson scored one each as Irwin Primary improved to seven points to be in second place behind Howard Cooke Primary (nine points) and one more than Somerton Primary.
Somerton have a game in hand and must win to advance ahead of Irwin.
In another game Friday, Cambridge and Anchovy played out a 0-0 draw.
