Igloo cools Atlanta temperatures
THE inaugural staging of the Igloo cooler party in Atlanta, took place at the Lithonia Amphitheatre in Georgia, on Sunday May 3.
Promoted by RepJA and Igloonation, the event attracted more than a thousand patrons, who danced to music from the likes of DJ Mixmaster David.
According to RepJA spokesperson Omar Anthony, the event went well.
“The event was a success and we look forward to having the next Igloo in Atlanta on August 30,” said Anthony.
“This was our first effort and we are pleased with the way things worked out. Thanks to all the patrons who came out and the sponsors who worked with us.”
Anthony explained to Observer, the organisers saw the opportunity ‘to put the show on the road’.
“We saw the need for a new party event in Atlanta that has the ability to unite all cultures under one roof embracing Jamaica, its people, culture and music while demonstrating to the world that we are out of many, one people,” he said.
Disc jocks Shane Talon & Benzo aka Nuts and Base, DJ Kash, and sound system Coppershot provided the musical thrills.
First held in Jamaica in February 2009, Igloo has also been staged in Florida, New York, and Barbados.
