Music stars for Sandals Ochi

A NUMBER of American country music stars are slated to arrive at Sandals Ochi Beach Resort in St Ann for Boots on the Beach Vacation which starts today and ends May 27.

The performances — scheduled for May 22 to 26 — will be hosted by Country Music Television’s Katie Cook. Among those expected to take the stage are platinum-selling artistes Chris Young, Jerrod Niemann and Tyler Farr. Appearances will also be made by Boot Campaign COO Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Joey Jones and Boot Campaign Ambassador Taya Kyle, widow of American Sniper’s Chris Kyle.

Six deserving military couples will also be receiving surprise trips to attend Boots on the Beach Vacation, courtesy of the Boot Campaign and the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation.

“It is our profound pleasure and privilege to celebrate and support US service members and their families. These people have given so much. It’s an honour to do something special for them,” said Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, chairman of Sandals Resorts International, parent company of Sandals Resorts.

Paul Pennicook, Jamaica’s director of tourism, was delighted to be part of the initiative.

“The Jamaica Tourist Board is pleased to join forces with Sandals Resorts for this worthwhile initiative. We are thrilled that Sony Music Nashville has chosen Jamaica this year for its all-star music showcase to benefit The Boot Campaign. We hope this exciting weekend event will demonstrate to attendees why Jamaica is the ‘Home of All Right’,” said Pennicook.

Boot Campaign aims to raise awareness of the unique challenges faced by service members and their families during and post-service and provide necessary assistance.

Boots on the Beach Vacation is produced in association with Sony Music Nashville, Alliance Connection Productions and Funjet Vacations.

The weekend highlights include: acoustic jam sessions with up-and-coming artistes Cam, Logan Mize and Josh Dorr; a silent auction to benefit the Boot Campaign; and a pool party with American Idol finalist, Casey James, among other activities.
