Basic schools to benefit from Bring Back The Love charity match
Proceeds from this year’s Bring Back The Love After Labour charity football match will go towards purchasing computers and printers for two basic schools in Franklin Town, says Clive ‘Busy’ Campbell, event organiser.
The charity match between Entertainers and Masters & Celebrities is scheduled to be played on Monday (Labour Bay) at the Barbican Football Complex, starting approximately 5:00 pm.
Organisers said that there will be an admission cost of $200, while children under the age of 12 will be allowed free entry to the venue.
Speaking to the Jamaica Observer at Tuesday’s launch at Cuddy’z Sports Bar and Restaurant, Campbell, the organiser since 1996, said that technology has now taken over the world and it is their duty to assist in bringing it to the inner city communities.
“Education is the only way to break the circle of poverty, and we are committed to the task and will play our part in making this a reality,” he said.
“We will do our best to prepare the youth of this country to step into this new age with confidence. It is the way forward, and children in the inner city must be afforded the opportunity to experience and learn to live with what technology can offer,” added Campbell.
Vanessia Carr, marketing officer at KLAS ESPN Sports FM89, said that coming on board for the event was a no-brainer for her company.
“At KLAS, the core of our operation is sports and once we were approached by ‘Busy’, it was a yes right away without any hesitations. It was a no-brainer for us to be on board as we look forward to a great day and, as usual, we will continue to provide coverage for the event,” Carr noted.
Campbell then thanked all sponsors for their continued support towards the charity event.
“So friends in football, we are on a mission…technology is here to stay and it is changing lives on a daily basis, and I just want to say thank you to our sponsors for their support and I encourage everyone to come and lend their support, as the children are the future and we want to guide them in the right direction,” he ended.
Sponsors of the event are LIME, RJR Communication Group, Power 106, KLAS ESPN Sports FM89, Western Sports, Print 24/7, Jamaica Observer, Cuddy’z Sports Bar and Restaurant, News Talk 93.1FM, Cummings Fabricators and WATA.
