And…the youngsters are off in Lotto Juvenile Stakes
The running of the $1-million Lotto Juvenile Stakes on Saturday marked the start of the two-year-old campaign for this season.
The Philip Feanny-conditioned Bubbling Kitten with Orlando Foster displayed her potential talent with an encouraging performance, winning by two lengths in the maiden special weight event in a time of 36:0 seconds for the three-furlong event.
“It was a good performance by Bubbling Kitten. She stumbled at the start but recovered quickly for the victory. I think that she is a nice filly in the making,” Feanny said. Owner, Howard Hamilton, was also happy with the bay filly’s performance.
“She (Bubbling Kitten) is a very nice filly. She is bred for speed and her trainer has done really well with her and hopefully she stays sound and goes on to do greater things. It was a very nice race she won and I am happy for her,” Hamilton told the Complete Racing Guide.
Bubbling Kitten (Blue Pepsi Lodge – Shanda D), who was sent off at 9-5, stayed with the field of six runners for the first furlong before pulling away for an emphatic victory with Foster using hands alone.
Cruising Motion (Georgina Sergeon) was second, a length in front of Poppy’s Pride, the mount of Dane Nelson.
“The race wasn’t that difficult as she used her speed to great effect. She is a very nice filly. She worked really well coming into the race and for her to win the first time of asking was good. She is a good sprinter in the making,” Foster said.
