Cavalier, Santos in fierce battle for KSAFA U-17 top spot
LEADERS Cavalier and Santos continue their fierce battle for the leadership in Zone A of the Tastee/KSAFA Under-17 football standings with victories in matches played at the weekend.
Cavalier edged bottom-placed Allman/Woodford 2-1 in the opening game of a double-header at Bell Chung Oval. To remain in touch, Santos beat Barbican 2-0 in the feature game.
Elsewhere in the competition, Harbour View are hot on the heels of Zone B leaders Brown’s Town after hammering Mountain View 4-2 away at the Excelsior High School. Brown’s Town, on the other hand, held on to their slim lead by edging third-place Tivoli Gardens 4-3 away at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex.
In Zone C, leaders Seaview Gardens suffered their first defeat of the campaign after losing 1-2 to Greenwich Town at Seaview Gardens Playfield, while Arnett Gardens and Boys’ Town, who are keeping company at the bottom of the standings, had their first wins.
Arnett Gardens slammed New Kingston 6-0 at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, while Boys’ Town edged the inconsistent Maxfield Park 3-2 at Collie Smith Drive.
In Zone D, Waterhouse scored back-to-back wins against former leaders Duhaney Park at
Drewsland in midweek and hosts Maverley/Hughenden on Sunday, registering 4-0 and 1-0 margins, respectively, to top Zone D.
In other games, August Town went past Swallowfield 3- 0, Tivoli Gardens went down to Brown’s Town 3-4, Central Kingston turned back Bull Bay 2-0, Red Hills went down to Molynes United 1-5, and Cooreville Gardens beat Meadforest 2-0.
