‘Dream’ deal
DREAM Entertainment Ltd, promoters of the annual Dream Week of parties, recently signed a deal with American online travel company Expedia Inc.
According to Scott Dunn, managing director of Dream Entertainment, the deal is “unprecedented” and will see the party series being advertised on the website expedia.com.
“The website’s users will be allowed to buy Appleton Special Dream Weekend tickets. The site will also feature listings from hotels in Negril and Montego Bay. The deal is supported, in part, by a contribution from the Jamaica Tourist Board,” Dunn told the Jamaica Observer.
Dream Weekend is scheduled for Negril from August 5-9.
Expedia Inc is the parent company to several global online travel brands, including Hotels.com, Trivago, and Hotwire.com.
Edwin Martinez, Expedia Inc’s senior marketing manager for the region, said the partnership with Dream Entertainment is an example of merchandising opportunities.
“At Expedia, we aim to provide new and existing partners with ample opportunities to reach our global customers. We can provide [these opportunities] to our Jamaican hotel partners, and we look forward to delivering more opportunities through future entertainment event partnerships on the island,” he said in a statement.
Ten events are planned for Appleton Special Dream Weekend. They include a live concert, soca party, ’90s jam and sound clash.
Now in its sixth year, the series is expected to attract more than 20,000 fans.
