Finalists to be decided in Manchester Under-15
MANDEVILLE, Manchester — The finalists in the Manchester FA/CAN Care Pharmacy Under-15 competition will be decided today following the playing of the semi-finals at the Kirkvine Sport Club.
Title favourites Mile Gully FC will battle Villa United in one game, with Hillstars and Ricam Academy set to face off in the other fixture.
Both games are scheduled to kick-off simultaneously at 4:00 pm on fields A and B.
While the Hillstars-Ricam encounter could go down to the wire, Mile Gully are expected to continue their impressive vein of form with a victory over Villa.
The north-western Manchester-based side topped the preliminary round standings on maximum 15 points after winning all of their games in Zone Two, scoring 20 goals and conceding one. Their opponents were second best in Zone One and only got into the play-offs on goal difference — scoring seven goals while conceding nine.
Though Ricam Academy will enter their semi-final as group winners, based on the numbers, the central Manchester side might actually feel like the underdogs. They amassed only points from four games in topping Zone One, while scoring six goals and conceding three.
Hillstars, to the contrary, placed second in Zone Two with 12 points, while boosting the best goal differential record in the competition: 25 for and five against.
