For the ‘hard-Kor’ riders
AT a year old, KORJAM Limited hopes to become the go-to place for all things two-wheeled .
Located at 8 Dunrobin Avenue in St Andrew, the company intends to make in-roads with its 2015 line of Hyosung motorbikes and Daelim scooters out of South Korea.
“We’re not a car dealer. This gives us the ability to focus on what we sell, primarily motorcycles and scooters. We are bike-centric,” Noel Holtz, managing director KORJAM Limited, told Auto.
Holtz became aware of the Korean brand in 2007 when it made the transition to the international scene.
“Hyosung was like the little in secret amongst bikers, as they were a major manufacturer of bike components and parts for some of the more well-known brands,” he explained.
Impressed by the quality and technology that the Hyosung brand had to offer, Holtz secured a deal that makes his company the authorised dealer for Jamaica and the Caribbean.
While KORJAM has access to the entire Hyosung catalogue of motorbikes, Holtz has opted to focus on three motorbike buying brackets with GD250N EXIV, the GT250R and the GT650R. All three feature upmarket technology such as fuel-injection, double overhead cams (DOHC) and liquid-cooled engine. Holtz calls the 250N a great starter bike that’s affordable and easily controllable. For those looking for more speed, the remaining names say it all with the letters ‘GT’ and ‘R’ in them. The GT250R looks the part standing still, upping the game with a 249cc V-twin engine while adding performance goodies like bigger brakes, double-piston callipers, and adjustable shocks. Within the confines of the law is the GT650R ramping up the racer feel through its increased displacement 647cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC 8-valve 90 V-twin motor. The brake piston count doubles to four, and the suspension gets even more adjustability to take advantage of more its aggressive tyre package.
“We will have the GD250R EXIV-R in a few weeks. This adds a sportier package over the regular GD250, but doesn’t go the full GT250R route,” said Holtz.
Prices start from as low as $400,000 and up to around $1.7 million. The bikes come with what Holtz explains is the best in class warranty of two years. Since KORJAM concentrates solely on motorbikes, the MD said parts support would not be a problem.
“As the authorised dealer, any parts we don’t have locally we can get from our supplier in the United States within a day,” he said.
KORJAM Limited also sells accessories such as gloves, DOT helmets, and approved safety gear for the motorbike enthusiasts. The Daelim line of Korean scooters are scheduled to join KORJAM’s offerings soon too.
