Lucea in mid-season final of Hanover FA Major League
LUCEA, Hanover — Lucea FC beat Galaxy FC 3-1 on Wednesday to qualify for tomorrow’s mid-season final of the Hanover Football Association Captain’s Bakery/Charley’s JB Rum Major League competition.
Oshane Kerr scored a three-timer for the former champions as they advanced from Zone Two on goal difference ahead of Friendship FC and will meet Zone One winners Mt Pelier in tomorrow’s play-off set for Watson-Taylor Park.
Kerr gave Lucea FC the lead in the 21st minute, but Randy Gardner equalised for Galaxy FC in the 39th minute, and the teams went into the half-time break tied at 1-1.
Kerr then scored two more times in the second half, in the 71st and 87th minutes, for Lucea to push their goal difference to 16, four more than Friendship FC.
Both teams finished tied on 17 points, five more than third-placed Super Star, while Mt Pelier won Zone One with 15 points, one more than Bamboo FC, who beat Claremont 4-1, also on Wednesday.
Kevin Bowen and Nakia Atkinson scored doubles for Bamboo FC, while Paulton Green scored Claremont’s goal.
