SVL Major, Minor League netball finals on today
Jamalco, Mico ‘A’, Global United ‘A’, and EXED Saints will all be in the hunt to capture the 2015 Netball Jamaica/Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) Major and Minor League titles today
inside the National Indoor Sports Centre (NISC).
Jamalco and Mico ‘A’ defeated Waulgrovians ‘A’ and Molynes United ‘A’ 59-45 and 43-32, respectively, in their Major League encounters.
Meanwhile, in the Minor League semi-finals it was much closer, as Global United ‘A’ clipped Arnett Gardens ‘B’ 23-22, while EXED Saints got past Upper Camp 24-22.
The Minor League final (40 minutes) between Global United ‘A’ and EXED Saints is scheduled to begin at 5:30 with the Major League final between Jamalco and Mico ‘A’ set for 7:00 pm.
Jamalco, coached by Winston Nevers, are expected to start hot favourites as they are the only unbeaten team in the Major League competition, having won all their 14 matches played.
They have also been boosted by the return of veteran goalshooter Elaine Davis, and along with the competition’s leading scorer Marsha Murphy-Dawkins, they appear a potent force.
In the preliminary round, Jamalco defeated Mico ‘A’ 41-32.
The Global United ‘A’ and EXED Saints Minor League final should turn out to be a very exciting encounter which could end up in a close finish.
Global United ‘A’, coached by Dalton Hinds, have won all their matches, while EXED Saints, coached by Antoinette Grey, have lost only one match and will be looking to end the season with triumph.
The end-of-season rally will be played today starting at 1:00 pm at the Leila Robinson Courts.
