Kehv stays Addicted to music
IT has been five years since singer Kehv released Simply Kehv, his first album. He is wrapping production on his second set, Addicted.
That album is being produced by TALS Records, a company led by guitarist Leroy ‘Badness’ Pennicott who like Kehv, lives in South Florida.
“I haven’t put out anything in a while because the focus is on this project. I’d like it to give me a presence here,” said Kehv.
Addicted is scheduled or release in early 2016. The title track, Rastafari and All of You have already been confirmed for its final cut.
All feature bass player Christopher Meredith, guitarist Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith and drummer Wilburn ‘Squiddly’ Cole, who were members of the Grammy-winning Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers band in the 1990s.
Kehv, who works in South Florida’s health care sector, said the break between albums has made him a better artiste.
“Growth is a natural process. We’ve grown a lot in that time.”
Born in Browns Town, St Ann, Kehv (Everton Smith) has lived in the Sunshine State for over 20 years. He started his career in 1995, doing background vocals on productions for ska legend Derrick Morgan.
He became a member of LED, a vocal group that emerged in the late 1990s a prolific period for boy groups in the United States.
They recorded two albums, On Our Way and After Midnight, which earned them a base in South Florida.
The trio split up in 2008.
