Portmore, Savannah in rescheduled Confed clash
The rescheduled fixture between Portmore United and Savannah SC at the Spanish Town Prison Oval is the lone game on in the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) All-Island Confederation Play-offs today.
Kick-off is set for 3:30 pm.
Heavy rain, which led to a waterlogged field, forced the abandonment of the Match Day One encounter in the 35th minute last Wednesday.
At the time Portmore were 2-0 to the good thanks to goals from Rodian Jennings, who struck in the 18th and 32nd minutes, as the former national champions dominated the early exchanges.
On the second match day played on Sunday, both teams earned their first point of the campaign. Portmore United played out a 1-1 result with Kingston & St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) champions University of the West Indies (UWI) at the Mona Bowl, while Savannah ended goalless against leaders York United at the Frome Sports Complex in Westmoreland.
York, the Eastern Confederation winners, have four points from two games. South Central Confed top team Portmore, Western Confed champions Savannah and UWI are all on a point. But while Portmore and York have played a game each, UWI, who lost 1-3 at York, have played twice.
The All-Island Confed Play-offs is contested on a home and away basis. The top two teams will be promoted to next season’s Premier League competition.
