Saluting Fred Locks

SINGER Fred Locks will be guest of honour at the Love and Harmony show tomorrow, in honour of ’50 years service to Rastafari’ .

Born Stafford Elliott, Fred Locks’s career started in the mid-1960s as a member of The Lyrics, a harmony group. He is best known for the 1975 anthem Black Star Liner, a salute to Marcus Garvey’s shipping line.

A number of roots acts will pay homage to Fred Locks, including Warrior King, Asante Amen, Bongo Herman, Isha Bel, Cave Man,Wild Life, Kazam, I-Stitch and Seers.
