I get a strong feeling that some senior members of the Jamaica Labour Party are past their expiry date and they just don’t get it!

The public wants to see the ‘appearance’ of a united party. The public is not stupid, we know that in every organisation there is conflict. Even the other party is now struggling with internal conflicts with Lisa Hanna and Raymond Pryce. But the public likes order, or at least the appearance of order.

Every week I watch the TV news and see Holness touring with candidates or first at the scene of some issue of national importance and it builds confidence. But then here comes some leaked distracting comment or complaint by senior members of the party exercising bad political judgement and reminding the nation that all is not well.

They just don’t get it. The media and the public can’t be adjudicators of the internal affairs of the JLP. At some point, even the squealers look bad, everybody looks bad; the party looks bad. It becomes one big soap opera, staring Vaz, Chuck, Samuda, Warmington, and Mair. These men must know that while people will watch soap operas for the drama, they will not take the actors or plot seriously and install them as leaders. And, even worse, a message about bad politics, will cause people not to take the message about good policies seriously.

It makes no sense that they continue to wash their linen in the press, unless it is that they are intent on losing the next election.
