A Prelude to NACTIP
THE NACTIP Group, a diverse theatre unit, makes its Jamaican debut June 15 with a production called Prelude, at Theatre Place in Kingston.
Prelude includes separate performances by singers Splicer Ras and Mark-Anthony Abel and singer/actress Marcia Davis.
Antoinette Pitcan co-founded the NACTIP Group in New York City two years ago with her brother Hughland Pitcan.
She told the Jamaica Observer that the group is looking forward to its Jamaican debut.
“We intend to showcase what NACTIP is all about which is a little bit of theatre, a little bit of music,” Pitcan said.
Its membership are from different areas of the Jamaican diaspora. Pitcan was born in Jamaica but has worked in television and theatre in Westchester, New York for several years.
Trelawny-born Spilcer Ras (Oral Williams) is involved in the entertainment industry as an artiste and music video producer. He has directed videos by Konshens and Rippa Jackson.
Abel and Davis were born in the United Kingdom and have Jamaican heritage.
The NACTIP Group are also involved in Doodu Boy, author Stefhen Bryan’s autobiographical one-man play which runs June 9-14 at the Theatre Place.
