Timeforarms got it right in Hall of Fame Stakes race
TIMEFORARMS, under a superb ride from Omar Walker, came with a strong run in deep stretch to win the $900,000 Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame Stakes Trophy feature in fine style at Caymanas Park yesterday.
The Fitzroy Glispie-conditioned Timeforarms (Twilight Time-Armsofanangel), who was sent off as a 5-1 betting chance, raced prominently in mid-pack behind the speedy Talented Tony (Sadiki Blake up) and Traditional Prince (Robert Halledeen astride) before being put into a striking position by Walker approaching the final bend.
Turning for home in sixth position on the rails, Walker then produced his mount and Timeforarms responded well and got up in the nick of time to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths in the Open Allowance event for three-year-olds and upward going over 1,200 metres, which was sponsored by Caymanastogo powered by B3.
Hover Craft (Shamaree Muir aboard) came with a late run for second ahead of Traditional Prince and Deo Volente, the mount of Paul Francis, completing the frame in the eight-horse field.
The winning time was 1:13:0 minutes.
It was the second win for Glispie on the day as he earlier saddled Go To Hell in the seventh race over 1,500 metres.
Aaron Chatrie continued to ride in good form as he rode two winners, including Mr Marley in the Leslie McRae Memorial Trophy co-feature over 1,100 metres.
Trained by Gary Subratie, Mr Marley got home by a neck from Sweet Demension (Robert Halledeen) in 1:09:0 minutes.
Chatrie’s other winner was Starofthetown in the first event.
Also riding two winners was apprentice Romario Saunders, winning onboard Phalaenopsis and Star New Vista.
Racing continues next Saturday, with the 95th running of the $7- million Cals Jamaica Derby going over 2,400 metres.
