“I love enhancing the natural beauty of my clients. I must say that those forever grateful and loyal clients are my most fulfilling experience. Those clients are my oh so needed reminder that I’m doing my job right.” -Rasine HamiltonTB: What inspired you to start Chic et Magnifique Make-Up Artistry? RH: I’ve always loved make-up. I grew up watching my mother apply her make-up, and as a dancer, I had to get my make-up done for dance performances. I just seriously became interested in make-up close to my graduating from the Immaculate Conception High School.TB: What/ Who has been your greatest motivation thus far to help keep you going?RH: I must say that Jesus never failed me yet! When I’m struggling I talk to Him. When I’m doing well, I thank Him. He really comes through for me. It wouldn’t be right to not thank my family and friends for their great support. My “Pro MUA (Make-up Artist) Unite” group on Whatsapp is just the best support through any MUA problems and questions (we have quite a few!). I just have to love them. Last but definitely not least, my boyfriend is always there to give me guidance. I must say that without him, I would not get to my destination weddings. He’s a keeper.TB: What are your long term life-goals? 10 years and beyond…RH: I definitely still want to be pursuing make-up both in Jamaica and other nations. I also would like to start my own family. In the near future I hope to have my own salon. I’d like to offer services involving make-up, nails, eyebrows, eyelashes, hair and spa treatments.
Twenty-year-old make-up artist, Rasine Hamilton (RH), has been pursuing her current career for quite some time. However, she only recently started to hone her brand, Chic et Magnifique Make-Up Artistry, around the summer of 2013. We recently caught up with Hamilton, final year student at the University of Technology pursuing a Bsc in Hospitality and Tourism Management, to further understand her pursuits.
Upon ending the interview, Hamilton stated that her makeup mantra is “To make people feel good inside and out.” Her life mantra is “Just Do It!”. She believes that since you only live once, “if there’s something that you want to say and do, do it.”
