UPDATE: 14-y-o killed in double murder identified

HANOVER, Jamaica – The 14-year-old boy that was this morning shot dead by gunmen in the Malcolm Heights community of Lucea, Hanover, has been identified.

He was one of two brothers who were shot dead, while two other people were shot an injured in the incident.

The 14-year-old has been identified as Leon Grant, while his brother is 20-year-old?Travis McKenzie.

Leon was a student of the Rhodes Hall High School in the parish.

Reports are that the four were asleep in a house in the community when gunmen broke in and shot them. One reportedly died on the verandah.

Investigators say an AK-47 was used in the early morning onslaught.

The injured included a man and a woman. The man has reportedly been admitted in serious condition to hospital while the woman has been treated and released.

Residents say a Honda motor car belonging to McKenzie, which is parked at the gate of the house, was shot up on Labour Day by gunmen.

Investigations are continuing.
