Past winners of the Derby – their progress afterwards

2014 – Relampago – went on to win the St Leger but after that was never able to have an impact at the top level. Plagued by injuries and is now in Trinidad where he will continue his racing career.
2013 – Perfect Neighbour – After the Derby easily won the St Leger and then became an outstanding performer in ‘A’ Class winning several top trophies including the Harry Jackson Memorial Cup. Continues to have an impact.
2012 – Typewriter – developed really well after his Derby winning the St Leger and two consecutive Superstakes. A true top class performer. Was voted as the Horse of the Year in 2014.
2011 – Technomoto – Upset winner of the Derby who never developed further.
2010 – Mark My Word – Went on to Triple Crown glory and then dominated the Superstakes. Met an untimely demise in his prime. True ‘A’ Class.
2009 – He’s Really Ok – Won the Derby in thrilling fashion beating Bruceontheloose but from then did not show much.
2008 – Alsafra – Became the second filly at Caymanas Park to win the Triple Crown. After her magnificent three-year-old did very little thereafter.
2007 – The Bomber – Won the Derby and that was practically it.
2006 – Ransom Man – A Derby winner who did not realise his full potential.
2005 – Miracle Man – Won the Derby, then the St Leger and the Superstakes. Developed into one of the best horses to race at Caymanas Park. Was crowned horses of the Year in 2005. Took local racing to a new level when he won the Confraternity Classic in Puerto Rico. One of the best. Now serving at stud.
