Boyz in business mode ahead of kick-off
ANTOFAGASTA, Chile – Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz continued their preparations for today’s opening Group B game against defending champions Uruguay with Head Coach Winfried Schaefer conducting a series of meetings after breakfast.
The sessions started at 9:30 am here (7:30 am Jamaica time) with a 15-minute meeting with the central defenders, followed by a meeting with the wing backs at 9:45 am, then the midfielders at 10:00 am, followed by the wingers at 10:15 am, the forwards at 10:30 am, then closing out with the goalkeepers at 10:45 am.
The Jamaica Observer understands that the meetings, which included video analyses, were aimed at reinforcing the game plan for the 15-time Copa America champions Uruguay when the two teams meet at 2:00 pm Jamaica time at the Estadio Regional Calvo y Bascunan today.
Today’s schedule has the Boyz meeting for lunch at midday, snack at 4:00 pm, then departure to the game venue for practise at 4:30 pm. The one-hour training session will commence at 5:00 pm, after which Schaefer and captain Rodolph Austin will engage the media in the mandatory pre-game press conference at 6:10 pm through to 6:40 pm, also at the game venue.
Dinner is slated for 7:30 pm.
