JPS Mandeville hosts Energy Expo
Mandeville, Manchester — In partnership with furniture retailer Courts, the Jamaica Public Service’s (JPS) eSTORE, hosted an Energy Conservation Exposition on June 5.
The event was part of related activities occuring simultaneously in different areas of Region Central, which consists of Manchester, St Catherine, Clarendon and St Ann.
On display at the event in Mandeville were energy-saving devices, such as LED bulbs; PowerBanks designed to charge gadgets such as mobile phones while on the go; timers that can be programmed to turn switches on and off; and the alternative energy device — the Solar Mill.
JPS Customer Service Manager Andrewnett Henzil said that the partnership enabled awareness to be built on how to manage energy consumption through demonstrations.
The eSTORE in Mandeville was opened in 2013 at the Villa Road location of JPS to provide energy-saving items for sale as well as advice on conservation.
“We are not here to push a brand; we are not here to push technology. We are here to help you to be empowered. It is really about energy efficiency,” said Sales and Marketing Director Garth McKenzie at the time.
He argued then that the “gap” at JPS is that customers do not believe they are getting value for what they are paying, and the company’s job is to make the users of the service feel happy about what they now pay and what they will pay in the future.
Meanwhile, Henzil said that the Exposition was an opportunity to reach a wider range of customers than the number that visit the office on a regular basis.
She said that it was not only to showcase the offerings and allow for purchases, but there was a chance for complaints to be made, bills to be queried, and other concerns to be handled.
“The day’s event went exceptionally well. We want to have ongoing partnerships and community activities where we are able to touch our customers,” said Henzil, adding that many have been using the gadgets from the eSTORE and reaping the benefits.
