Grace recalls batches of baked beans

KINGSTON, Jamaica — GraceKennedy Limited has announced the recall of nine batches of its Grace Baked Beans produced at its Grace Food Processors Canning Division.

A release from the company Wednesday said the recall affects the 300 gram cans with the following can codes:

Consumers who have purchased the product are being advised to check the can code number which is stamped in black at one end of the can.

“Consumers in possession of these batches of the product are advised to cease further use and return same to the point of purchase, where the full cost of the product will be refunded,” the release said.

Andrew Ho, senior general manager, Manufacturing stated: “Through routine internal checks the company identified irregularities with the product, manifested in the swelling of some cans. We have therefore decided to recall the specific batches mentioned to protect our consumers and are also taking all necessary steps to address the irregularities.”

He explained that there is a remote probability that the batches identified may cause adverse health consequences.

GraceKennedy assured all consumers that their safety is paramount, and that the recall does not affect any other batches of the Grace Baked Beans products outside of the ones identified in this release.

“Providing safe, high quality products to our consumers remains our number one priority,” said Ho.
