Winning the St Leger on Seeking My Dream would be huge — Omar Walker
VICTORY for Seeking My Dream in tomorrow’s 89th running of the $3.5-million ISP Finance Services Limited-sponsored Jamaica St Leger would be huge, according to jockey Omar Walker, who is confident the colt can get the job done.
One of two horses from Wayne DaCosta’s stables in the line-up for the third and final leg in the Triple Crown, Seeking My Dream showed his dominance when he romped the Cal’s Jamaica Derby over 2,400 metres on June 13 by four-and-and-a-half lengths over stable companion Ali Baba.
However, Seeking My Dream will have Ali Baba again to contend with, and this time the journey is 2,000 metres.
“It would be really great to win the St Leger; it would be huge as it is another Classic race. Winning a Classic race is a great accomplishment for any jockey, as big races like these highlight our career,” Walker told the Complete Racing Guide.
As for Seeking My Dream’s preparations, Walker confirmed that the colt is 100 per cent ready.
“Seeking My Dream is being prepared very well heading into the St Leger; he is moving nicely in the mornings and he has done everything that has been asked of him. He feels fine, he is happy, he is fit, and the most important thing is that he is healthy.
“Based on his performance in the Derby, I really don’t see them beating him in the St Leger. He has proven that he is the best stayer, he has stamina and he is very talented, so without a doubt, I am confident that he will win,” were Walker’s final words.
Walker will be seeking his third Classic win of the year, having already won the 1,000 Guineas on Puddy Pooh and the Derby.
