In Support of The Percy Junor Hospital
SCORES, including the Governor General of Jamaica Sir Patrick Allen and Lady Allen, were spotted last Sunday, June 28 at the well-appointed home of Maxie and Faye Bell to kick-start a series of fund-raising events for the Percy Junor Hospital — now in its 70th year.
Guests enjoyed the hospitality of the Bells at ‘Frolic in the Grove’ complete with tasty offerings from The Galloping Gourmet and Wayne Armond’s band Warm & Easy, surrounded by orchids and pottery plus considerably cooler climes than many parishes across the island.
By virtue of its location, Percy Junor Hospital, serves the parishes of Manchester, Clarendon, St Ann, and Trelawny, and has annual patient care numbers exceeding 40,000. The Accident and Emergency facility is in desperate need of renovation and expansion.
The week-long series of events began with an anniversary church service at Spalding Gospel Assembly and patron of the effort is Beverley Junor-Levy, the daughter of the late Percy Junor who was the principal donor and founder of the hospital which bears his name.
The committee’s overall target is $250 million.
