Trainee apprentice riders get another chance
The trainee apprentice riders will once again get the opportunity to showcase their talent when eight of the 20 young riders line up to compete in the second Jamaica Racing Commission’s (JRC) Jockey Training School race at Caymanas Park tomorrow.
Melissa Ward, who won the first JRC’s Jockey Training School race on May 16, is one of two female riders in the four-year-old maiden condition event going over 1,400 metres. Andree Powell is the other woman in the race.
Ward gets aboard the Delroy Waugh-trained first-time runner Rolling Stone. Others that will be taking part are Who’s Bossy (Bebeto Harvey), All ForThe Glory (Odeen Edwards), Seal The Deal (Linton Steadman), Danish Brown (Hakeem Pottinger), Sure Man (Kemoy Parchment), Mawga Gal (Andree Powell) and Devil’s Cat (Oneil Beckford).
No whips will be allowed in the race.
