Security guard fined for wounding, robbing ex-girlfriend
A security guard has been fined $50,000 after pleading guilty to robbing his ex-girlfriend and stabbing her.
Theodore Legg, 24, of West End, Negril, pleaded guilty to robbery with aggravation and wounding with intent when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court last week.
Allegations are that on June 8, at approximately 9:15 am, the accused went to the complainant’s work place in Allman Town, Kingston, where he used a knife to stab her on the right side of the neck, right region of the abdomen and the upper right leg.
He then took her handbag containing $25,000 and fled the scene.
When Legg appeared in court he told the magistrate that everybody should get a second chance and that he had learned from his mistakes.
“What you learned?” Senior Magistrate Judith Pusey asked.
“That you should leave certain things alone,” Legg replied.
“She could have died, I think you should go to prison for it. You took away her handbag at her workplace and stab her three times,” Pusey said.
Attempting to justify his actions he said that the complainant had also inflicted wounds on him.
“When, same time?” Pusey asked.
“No, in April,” Legg replied.
“I believe you should go to jail for it,” Pusey responded, prior to handing down the fine.
Legg was fined $20,000 or six months for robbery with aggravation and $30,000 or six months for wounding with intent.
