Bennett: No replacement for Miller in Tallawahs squad
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Despite losing left-arm spinner Nikita Miller for the Sabina Park leg of matches in the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) due to a finger injury, Jamaica Tallawahs head coach Junior Bennett said there will be no replacements in the squad.
Miller played in the four away games for the Tallawahs, taking only one wicket, but frustrated opposition batsmen with miserly spells.
On Friday, Tallawahs head coach Junior Bennett told OBSERVER ONLINE that Miller met in a motor vehicle accident earlier this week and suffered an injury to his left little finger which required three stitches.
Miller was left out of the Tallawahs team which beat St Lucia Zouks and Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel at Sabina Park on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively.
The 33-year-old spinner will also be missing for back-to-back games versus Barbados Tridents on Saturday and Guyana Amazon Warriors on Sunday.
Bennett said the decision is precautionary so Miller can be ready “for the business end” of the CPL campaign.
Miller told OBSERVER ONLINE that it is a “minor injury”.
The Tallawahs squad possess a number of slow bowlers, including world-rated left-arm spinner Daniel Vettori, former West Indies youth captain and off-spinner Ramaal Lewis, as well as part-timers Narsingh Deonarine, captain Chris Gayle, and Nkrumah Bonner.
