Big show for ‘all Tezzas’
TEZZAWORLD Jamaica Link Up: JDM Style, held last Saturday at the Mary Brown’s Corner Texaco Service Station in St Andrew, was a hit for the Kingston-based Toyota Altezza owners’ club Tezzaworld.
“It was awesome. The energy was good, as was the turnout and, of course, the cars were immaculate,” Elvis Byfield, Tezzaworld president, told Auto.
The event was the first major event for the club since 2013 and proved that there was pent up demand for auto lovers to come out and show off their cars. Even within Tezzaworld, which presented 15 of its best rides, the seriousness of the night could be seen as owners polished their Altezzas as they sat parked.
More significantly, the club is primed for an increase in size due to the event.
“We found four potential new members,” Byfield said.
The Tezzaworld members filled out the prime parking spots in the service station and were joined by the like-minded Subaru Owners Club of Jamaica, Honda specialists 876Racing and Nissan crew Darker Shades. The night kicked off in the most unexpected of ways, with an impromptu music video shoot building the excitement. By the end of the evening, many a car story, tips and tricks of the trade had been exchanged between familiar and new friends.
“The club was never dead. We just weren’t doing many public appearances. [But] the link-up increased awareness across social media,” he added.
The club is planning on replicating its success later this year in Portmore, St Catherine.
