Digicel enters partnership with Mitel
THE Digicel Group has entered a partnership with Mitel a high-tech company providing unified comunications solutions for businesses The partnership will supply cloud and premise-based technologies and software solutions to the 33 markets in which Digicel operates in the Caribbean, Latin America and South Pacific regions.
“With the addition of Mitel’s world-class portfolio of advanced cloud and premise-based communication solutions to our existing offerings, we are confident that we can provide customers of any size with solutions that are tailored to meet specific needs and deliver exceptional business value,” said Martin Carroll, CEO for Business Solutions at Digicel Group.
“We continue to expand our fixed mobile convergence products and services in line with growing customer demand for mobility in the workplace,” he continued, adding that the availability of “cloud-hosted voice and data solutions” through the Digicel Business network across the Caribbean will enable “improved mobility and business efficiency in organisations both large and small”.
According to a press release from the company, Digicel ticked all the boxes necessary to be qualified as a “global network partner”. Among the requirements are ongoing training for sales and technical services; processes and benchmarks to provide quality customer service; and a high degree of expertise in voice communications, data networking and applicable applications, such as virtualisation, conferencing, collaborating, contact centres and mobility.

Digicel Group also noted that the kinds of services that they will be able to offer are contact centre solutions and unified communications solutions, which allow user interface with multiple devices and media types, and include audio, web and video conferencing, instant messaging, desktop and data sharing, as well as VOIP telephony.
The new partnership marks the second such arrangement for Mitel since June, when it enetred an agreement with T-Mobile Netherlands to provide “fixed mobile converged solutions” – cloud-based technology – within that country, according to a press release on Mitel’s website.
