Sunny times for Bagga
Veteran singer Orville ‘Bagga’ Case puts a fresh spin on
Everyday Sunshine, a song originally done by legendary
keyboardist/arranger Jackie Mittoo.
Produced by Tony Stines, Case’s version is on the album Yahba-Jus Wicked, a 13-track lovers rock compilation.
Many of the tracks were first laid in Toronto, Canada in the 1980s
with Jamaican musicians who lived there, including Mittoo and bass
player Brian Atkinson, who worked together at Studio One during the
1960s.
Among the musicians who worked on the re-configured tracks at Harry J
studios in Kingston three years ago are saxophonists Dean Fraser and
Everton Gayle, trumpeter David Madden, bass player Boris Gardiner,
trombonist Calvin ‘Bubbles’ Cameron, percussionist Uzziah ‘Sticky’
Thompson and keyboardist Stephen Stewart.
Case, a former member of Home T, is featured on 10 of the songs.
