Seek Exercise Book raceday – The Analysis

Overview:

With one of the more competitive programmes put on by Caymanas Park in weeks and with no standouts to speak of, tomorrow’s Seek Exercise Book 11-race card at Caymanas Park should provide some exciting races and big payouts. With a carryover of over $3.3 million, the Pick 9 will be very hard to catch. For anyone who can navigate the maze of Saturday’s race day and pick nine consecutive winners, to them I say well done, but I believe at the end of the day, there will be no one picking nine winners and the carryover will have ballooned to over $4.5 million.

Race 1: Two- Year-Old Maiden Special Weight; 5 _ Furlongs

Gary Subratie sends out Nuclear Affair who attracts Omar Walker, (who would normally be expected to ride for Harry Parsard, who has an entrant in the race). Shane Ellis rides first-time starter My Companion, while Baby P wheels right back from lone start last Saturday. Might improve.

Race 2: Claiming $500,000 – $550,000; 8 Furlongs

Classy Prospect goes for third consecutive victory. Against a better quality field, a bounce would be in order. But from the manner in which he won his last race, he will be difficult to beat here. He put away another worthwhile speedster, Force de Jour in his last race, and was pulling away at the end. Will have things his own way here, being the dominant, controlling speed in the race. Both Bars of Gold and Hologram Shadow will be compromised by Classy Prospect’s superior speed. One of the following -Star New Vista, Jack De Charmer or Golden Bullet -might run on to complete the exacta.

Race 3: Claiming $300,000 – $350,000; 9 Furlongs and 25 Yards:

Above The Radar is by far the best horse in the race at the distance. Has a very good kick in the final two furlongs whenever he runs two turns. Probably the best bet on Saturday’s card. Cold Ground’s last was too bad to be true. Another chance to make the exacta. Miss Boss Lady is out of form, which leaves Batidor De Mundo, and the likely leaders, Persian Belle and Legendary Pleasure, to battle it out for the minor positions.

Race 4: 4-Year-Olds and Up NW 3: 5 Furlongs Straight

These are a bunch of underachievers. Concur continues to get bets and is a money burner, and Junior Don runs in and out. Play at your own risk. Lord Chepso and speedster, Roving Star, are the ones along with Blue Eyed Boy that I am expecting to fight out the finish. The winner should come from one of these. Upset possibility: Chief Secretariat, but is badly drawn at post position two.

Race 5: 5-Year-Olds and UP Maidens; 6 Furlongs

If ever there is a race that cries “upset,” this is it. This is the sort of race where the “all” button is a worthwhile option, if you can afford it. I think it would be presumptuous of me to try to pick a winner here. Your guess is as good as mine. But since I’m expected to pick one here, then I guess it would be Valentine Boy, for no other reason than I hate favourites and I do not think this one will be favourite. Also he has a very good jockey, Shamaree Muir.

Race 6: Claiming $180,000; 5 Furlongs Round

Another race that can see an outsider landing at a price. Any favourite here deserves to be bet against, especially because no amount of handicapping can point to a likely winner. It’s just bet and hope. Having said that, Captain DJ has been coming in under the radar and could finally hit the board at a price. Insane Bolt will show speed and against these may have a chance. Mr Theophilus may be the soundest of the lot and if so, deserves a chance. But again, wide open race.

Race 7: 3-Year-Old Maidens; 9 Furlongs and 25 yards:

Diamond is the most consistent of the bunch and is bred to handle the distance. Tashie Baby, Angel Star and Brown Girl are the other contenders.

Race 8: Allowance NW3; 5 Furlongs Straight

Asia’s Dream second to Shade of Beauty June 6 (and that one returned to win last week beating a stronger field), means this one has a glorious chance to win this race. Main danger should come from Clearly Ours. Dutchrow ran an improved race last time in the race won by Agakhan. Though compromised by inside draw, might fight it out with Infantry Officer for minor placing.

Race 9: Allowance NW2; 5 Furlongs Straight

Magic City slipped saddle last time. Another chance. Who’s Orchid and Rashaida nicely drawn outside should also run well. Sound of Miracle, were it not for the number three draw, would be top pick.

Race 10: Open Allowance; 6 1/2 Furlongs

The manner in which Traditional Prince won last time, rearing soon after the start, spotting the field several lengths, then closing like an F-16 to beat many of these going five and a half furlongs, makes him the day’s best bet! Will win! Fortuneonehundred, Edison and Peteswildone should fight it out for the minor placings.

Race 11: Allowance NW2 Fillies and Mares 5 1/2 Furlongs

The winner here should be She Goose. Closed like a runaway train and was barely beaten by Action Man in Five Straight race won by Dwayne Star. Top Figure! (Action Man returned last Saturday to run 3rd in competitive field). Dreamcometrue, Dinner By Seven, and Love Train are main dangers and these four should compete for the exacta.

Bet of the day: Daily Double $1,000 Race 10/11: Traditional Prince/She Goose, Dinner By Seven. Total=$2,000

PICK 9:

Race 3: 8

Race 4: 2, 5, 7, 10

Race 5: 4, 7, 8, 9, 10

Race 6: 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 13

Race 7: 1, 8, 10

Race 8: 9, 11

Race 9: 10

Race 10: 3

Race 11: 12

Cost: 1 X 4 X 5 X 6 X 3 X 2 X 1 X 1 X 1= 720 PERMUTATIONS x $10= $7,200
