What They Say! – Ruddy Jordene
1) When did you start your career as a groom?
I started my career on May, 13, 1983. However, I was involved in the sport from a younger age as I would come to the track on a regular basis. From these visits, I fell in love with horses and with horse racing in general.
2) Which horse was your first winner?
My first winner was Advocate. I was so happy when I won my first race as it felt like a big weight fell off my shoulders. Words could not explain the feeling that day but I was very happy.
3) Which horse was your longest odds winner?
My longest odds winner was Palatine trained by Anthony Nunes. I really don’t remember the odds. I am always happy to win races, at any odds.
4) Which horse is the best horse you have groomed?
I have groomed some good horses, but for me it was Pretty Woman. She was a quiet horse, easy to look after and she always performed to the best of her ability.
5) Which horse is the best horse you have seen race at Caymanas Park?
Well, I would say Miracle Man is the best I have seen compete at the track. Miracle Man is an impressive horse that won some top-flight races and he could have gone any distance on the track and still give a good run.
6) Who has influenced your career most?
Well, another groom by the name of Masman Anglin. I give all the credit to him because he was the one that introduced me to racing.
